Helena Commission boasts nearly 1,600 new housing units OK'd in 4 years

"This is a nonpartisan, urgent need, and right now it's all hands on deck," City Commissioner Andy Shirtliff said in an interview. "The city is not oblivious to it. We want to help find a solution. ... There's a sense of urgency."

Shirtliff and his colleagues on the commission said recent efforts to streamline internal processes and incentivize new development through various means have paved the way for healthy growth in home building.
